Tips and Tricks.

Turn on auto-save.
There is an option in the prefrences where you can have your document saved every 5 minutes. Turn it on!

Use the clippings folder to access frequently used text.
VoodooPad creates a folder in your home directory under ~/Library/Application Support/VoodooPad/Clippings/. You can place text files in there which will show up in the "Insert" submenu under the Edit menu. When you select the text, it will be inserted into the current page. VoodooPad also looks to see if the text file has the executable bit set and if it does, it will be executed with /bin/sh - so you can put dynamic content into VoodooPad with a couple of mouse clicks!

Customize the look of your html exports.
By creating a page in your document called "vphtmltemplate", you can modify the way your html files look like when they are exported. The contents of the page are taken straight as html (so there will be no automatic bolding or image exporting of it), and used as a template. There are two special placeholders you can use to set your content- Placing anywhere $vptitle shows up on the page, it will be substituted for the page title. And the contents of the exported page will be placed where you have $vppage .

Place your .vdoc(s) on your iPod.
Save your .vdoc to your iPod, and you can update your pad anywhere. (Well, anywhere you've got a macintosh that is.)

Command-Shift-O is your personal hero.
Did you know that there is a shortcut to open up any page with auto-complete hiding within VoodooPad? If you hit Command-Shift-O a sheet will open up in the current window, where you can begin typing the name of a page that you want access to quickly. And if you type in the name of a new page, it will be created for you!
